How to Understand Research Evidence

Research moves through stages. Every statement on EyeCyte is labelled with the stage its evidence has reached.

● Established / Approved

Part of established care, or approved by a regulator for this specific use.

● Human Clinical Evidence

Controlled human studies have reported results. Approval for this use is a separate question.

● Early Human Research

Small, early-phase or uncontrolled human studies — primarily about safety and feasibility.

● Preclinical Animal Evidence

Studied in animal models. Animal findings frequently do not translate to people.

● Laboratory / In Vitro Evidence

Studied in cells or tissue in the laboratory.

● Mechanistic / Theoretical

A proposed biological rationale, not a demonstrated effect.

● Insufficient Evidence

Not enough reliable evidence to draw conclusions.

Rules we follow

  • Laboratory and animal findings are never presented as patient outcomes.
  • Approval status is stated on every condition page, and checked against regulators.
  • Where we have not verified a specific study, we say EVIDENCE VERIFICATION REQUIRED and link a live literature search rather than an unverified citation.
  • Pages pass an automated compliance check and medical review before publication.
