What are MSCs?
Mesenchymal stromal cells — often called mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) — are cells found in tissues such as bone marrow, fat and the umbilical cord. International criteria define MSCs by laboratory characteristics such as surface markers and the ability to differentiate into bone, fat and cartilage cells in culture.
